Outdoor Blinds: New Trend Hitting Sydney

May 1, 2016 • editor

Since we introduced outdoor blinds to our range of products 5 years ago they have been our most popular product. Our Outdoor Blinds are now all manufactured by Design Outdoor Blinds Sydney in their Sydney Manufacturing facility.

Recently I was over at a friends place enjoying a BBQ. When I say I was enjoying it, it is quite surprising as the wind was a brisk Southerly coming in at 35Km. On an evening when I would have usually done anything do avoid an outdoor dining area I found myself relaxing with nice brew and a fat steak. The reason we were able to use this patio was he had recently had Patio Blinds installed.

Patio blinds, or as they are more popularly known outdoor blinds are made from high quality textile that lets light and vision through, but blocks rain, wind and sun by 95%. Aaron from Casashade says that their blinds are even fire resistant, taking the risk out having them near a BBQ or outdoor heater.

Cafe blinds can add privacy to the outdoor room, so it really becomes a practical extension of your home. Whenever you need more fresh air, relax or get some nap, your veranda or patio can provide just the right atmosphere for you. It is even more beneficial if you have a scenic view outside your home that you would want to accentuate or draw attention to. Installing cafe blinds would make the outdoor area more cosy to enjoy such view. You can entertain guests outside to give them a better view of the outdoor sceneries.

Aaron from Casashade Blinds and Shutters says that the installation of outdoor blinds on your patio are can increase the usage of the area by up to 40%. Which makes sens with all of the Winter months you would be able use it, just hunker down, close up the blinds , lock them in and switch on the BBQ, the patio will be nice and toast in no time.

Patio blinds are not just plain decoration for homes. These are effective weather protection as it can help in blocking the sunlight from entering the room. It can also protect the patio from rain splashes especially if the patio is an open area. When you purchase your patio blinds, make sure that you decide on what type and style that will match your home. You should also know the size that you need to purchase. This way, there will be no hassles when you will be setting this up in your patio door or window. Choose the most appropriate design depending on the look that you want to create for your patio.

Patio Blind Sydney

As you can see from the image above – these things are all class. Make sure you grab some before Winter hits, grab a cheap gas outdoor heater while you’re at it and you want want to come back inside!!

Increase Your Property Value in Sydney

August 11, 2015 • editor

The best way to increase the market value of a house, whether it has been your home for a while or you’ve just bought it, is to make a plan.

It is important not to rush into doing anything. Take your time, get to know the flaws of your home and the areas that could benefit from some renovation works. Start by putting together a list of all things you’d like to change. Don’t worry about organizing your list in any way. Just include on it all the updates you feel like necessary. Also, try to estimate for how long you may need to live in the house before being able to put it up for sale. If your intention is to sell it, you should talk with a realtor and develop a selling plan.

Take a look at your list and try to estimate the cost of each item on it. Additionally, estimate how much time each update would need. You should be realistic. If you want a pond with goldfish and a small waterfall in your backyard, you may want to consider the financial implications of all these.

The next step is to prioritize the items on your list. Determine what is an absolute “must-have” and what is only wishful thinking. You need to come away with a balance that suits your financial power.

With your plan in hand, go see a realtor and discuss about the kind of return each investment would bring. Some of them are going to pay off much better than others, so you may want to start with those.

Renovate one room at a time

A house renovation can be a big and challenging project. This is why it’s better to split it into multiple smaller ones. By tackling one room at a time, everything is going to look more manageable. whether we talk about knocking down walls or about a simple layer of fresh paint. Beware of hazards during the renovation such as asbestos. In the case of asbestos problems, make sure you hire a Sydney asbestos Removal Company to inspect, demolish and remove all fragments of asbestos from the walls and ceilings.

Put together a list of everything you’d like to achieve, and then break it down into cost-based categories of projects. Beware at the time needed to complete each of those items on your list. If you know you only have one day or one weekend to work on something, pick an item you can actually finish in the available time frame.

Small improvements can take you a long way.

When you are on a tight budget, it’s easy to find yourself torn between improving your home decor to make it more modern and making upgrades that could increase the market value of your home. You may be surprised to learn that doing a little of both can actually be the best solution.

This is why you have to split your projects in two lists. One list should contain those changes that have the potential of increasing the value of the house. The other list should contain upgrades you’d do just to improve your personal level of comfort. The first category includes things such as replacing old faucets, changing the doors or upgrading the floors. In the second category, you should put things like new furniture, window treatments and artwork. This is a plan which would enable you to actually see progress as you go through it and get things done.

Cleaning your house can bring you a profit.
A house that’s up on the market needs to be spotless clean at all times. A clean house has a much better potential of attracting buyers than one which is full of grime and dirt.

Cleaning your house should be one of your top priorities. This should include all maintenance works and the spotting of potential issues before they become too costly to fix. Additionally, you have to remove all dirt and junk before it actually starts to pile up and make cleaning more difficult. Mold, for instance, can spread like crazy if ignored. Eventually, living in a clean house is going to be better for your health.

Fake Grass is Taking Off in Sydney

September 15, 2014 • editor

Having a lush green lawn is a great way to enjoy the weather while relaxing in the garden. In fact, a well-maintained lawn would inevitably enhance the resale value of your home as well as make your home more appealing to buyers. But many homeowners don’t like the maintenance work associated with a natural grass lawn. Artificial grass lawns are the best choice for such homeowners. This article will highlight some of the most important factors to consider when deciding between a natural or synthetic lawn for your house.

Appearance – Artificial grass is too shiny and it will be easily distinguished from the natural version if someone is to take a closer look at it. But there are also some varieties of artificial grass that look very realistic from a distance. Then again, the greenness of artificial grass is unmatched by the natural version, unless a lot of care is taken in maintenance and regular trimming is done. Some people would always want a natural look, hence personal preferences also should be taken into account when deciding between the two varieties of grass.

If you would like to get fake grass Sydney NSW contact Much More Outdoor for a quotation – they are a small, trusted company based in Sydney.

Maintenance – Low maintenance is the number one advantage of artificial grass. It is not affected by insect damage, don’t have worn or dead spots and no regular mowing, weed controlling and fertilizing required. It is a great choice for drought-prone areas since no watering is required. Artificial grass is also great if you have kids and pets running around the house all the time. The only maintenance work required for synthetic grass is the brushing which should be done every six months and the refilling which helps to keep the blades upright.

Feel – The feel between the two versions are quite different to each other. But the newer varieties of synthetic grass would give a much closer feeling to the natural version. Artificial grass may heat up on warm days while natural grass may remain cool and comfortable. Watered lawns will help to cool down the house during the hot and humid summer, which is a plus point for natural grass.

Cost – Where the initial cost is concerned, natural grass is quite cheaper than artificial grass. Also, when you maintain it properly, natural grass may last for a lifetime while artificial grass may only last for 12-15 years. But when the long term maintenance costs are taken into account, there is not much of a difference between the two in the long run.

Environmental Impact – Natural grass will help to reduce greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide and allow for rain water to seep into the soil. This will help to enrich your ground water reserves. But a well-maintained natural grass lawn will require regular watering and fertilizing. Artificial grass will not require watering and fertilizing in anyway. But the latest varieties of artificial grasses will allow for rain water percolation. The disadvantage is that synthetic grass is made of plastic which may have long term environmental impacts.

Long-Term Investment – Your final choice should be based on the aforementioned factors. If you plan to put up a lawn for the sole purpose of enhancing the property value, natural grass is the best for you. But if you plan to stay in the house for some time, artificial grass is great since you simply put it and forget about it.

Additionally you need to be weary when picking your grass – check out this article –

Your personal preference will play a large role in the final choice between artificial and natural grass. Allocating time to maintain the lawn, the look and feel of the lawn and the best choice for the environment will have to be taken into account when choosing between the two. If you have insects and grass allergy sufferers in your family, the artificial grass version may be best for you.

Update: Recently we’ve been getting lots of request for a supplier of artificial grass Perth, mainly because our readers are from Perth and Sydney, obviously Much More Outdoor don’t service Perth so we encourage people to get a quote from Ez Artificial Grass in Perth. The guys over there sell a combination of Aussie made and imported grass so everyone’s budget is catered for.

Dangers of Asbestos in Sydney and Brisbane

August 31, 2014 • editor

Mesothelioma is a rare type of cancer which develops in the lungs almost exclusively caused through asbestos exposure. The part to be affected is the mesothelium tissue – the thin protective membrane which surrounds the lungs, abdominal cavity or the heart. Due to the high rate of asbestos mining and use, Australia has one of the highest rates of mesothelioma incidence.
Role of asbestos and high-risk factors.

Long-term exposure to asbestos – either in industrial settings, repair shops or from old buildings – is the usual cause for the disease. When the microscopic asbestos fibres are swallowed or breathed in, they often reach the lungs or the abdominal cavity where they slowly cause inflammation and scarring. The latency period often lasts for several decades and finally results in malignant mesothelioma which makes asbestos abatement so important.

If you are looking for Asbestos Removal in Sydney give us a call and arrange an inspection of your property.

Anyone who has worked with asbestos for a long time and sometimes their family members are at risk. Since the disease takes several decades to develop, it often develops in middle-age or later. If you have been exposed to asbestos fibres, smoking highly increases the risk of developing asbestos-related lung cancer.

Types of mesothelioma
There are three types of mesothelioma depending on where the malignant cells develop:
• Pleural: The most common form (almost 75% cases), here the disease develops in the lining of the lungs. Thanks to the number of studies, improved treatment methods and survival rates have been noted.
• Peritoneal: Here (10-20% cases), the peritoneum, the lining of the abdominal cavity is affected. A combination of surgery and heated chemotherapy is the usual treatment method.
• Pericardial: A rare form (almost 1% cases), this affects the lining of the heart and is the most difficult to treat.
A fourth extremely rare category which affects the reproductive organs, called testicular mesothelioma, has also been recorded.

Symptoms and diagnosis
Early symptoms include fatigue and mild pain around the affected area. The disease thus often goes unnoticed till the later stages. Shortness of breath, weight loss, chronic pain, spitting up sputum or blood, fluid build-up and bowel obstruction are the later stage symptoms.

A chest X-ray is usually the first step in diagnosis. If any abnormality is noticed, imaging scans like the PET scan, CT scan or the MRI are recommended. Biopsy, where tissue sample is collected from the affected region, is used to confirm the diagnosis i.e. the presence of mesothelioma cells.

Nowadays, Brisbane asbestos removals have never been more important than they are.

Treatment and prognosis
A multi-modal treatment plan is also adopted for mesothelioma patients. This involves one or more of the following:
• Surgery: If the tumour is in the early stages, the surgery is mostly curative. For patients in later stages, it is palliative and used to ease symptoms.
• Chemotherapy: This is often used along with surgery or radiation therapy to shrink tumours by killing malignant cells. They may prevent reoccurrence and help relieve symptoms.
• Radiation Therapy: This is also used to kill malignant cells, shrink tumours and prevent seeding.
Experimental immunotherapy and alternative treatment methods are also used by mesothelioma patients.

Depending on the size, location and stage of the tumour and the overall health of the patient, the prognosis varies. A number of recent encouraging success stories spread hope to mesothelioma sufferers across Australia.
